The name of our Institution is Ikhala TVET College. Our primary reason for existence is our core business which is to provide quality vocational and occupational education and training to all. The name of our college is derived from the indigenous plant in our area which is used in many instances as a medicine/herb. We are therefore an educational remedy to all educational ailments in the catchment area we serve.
I am particularly excited with the development of our website which is now up and running. The intention is to further assist in our drive for access to education and training but also to market our college to the wider community. We are also adding value to the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) initiatives and drives. Our primary customers, partners and industry can now view our offerings online at any place of their choice.
Ikhala TVET college is registering over 8000 students in both vocational and occupational programmes. These students are assisted by a dedicated staff supported by Council and Management.
It is our aim to be the top performing college in the country but starting within the province of the Eastern Cape, this will be achieved soon. In our vision and mission, we clearly articulate what we will do to achieve this. Our major drivers are to increase access and success in all our programme offerings. The focus will be relevance of our qualifications but then quality outputs rather than just quantity. Our support functions in the college have fully committed to these objective outcomes.
Ikhala TVET college is spread over two regions of the Eastern Cape, Joe Gqabi and Chris Hani Regions. It has service delivery sites and campuses in Sterkspruit, Aliwal North, Lady Frere, Ezibeleni, Queenstown, Cala and Tsomo and its Administration Head Office in Ezibeleni. These delivery sites offer both formal and informal programmes for Vocational and Occupational offerings.
The college boats itself with a strong and focused governance and management structures, our Council, Management, SRC and staff are dedicated to the education of our community. All these players have specific roles in the college and are fully committed to our college grow and going forward.
